Risk Assessment of Supported Cryptocurrencies

Our risk assessment framework is aligned with FATF, EU AMLD requirements, and industry best practices.

1. NairaX (NX)

  • Financial Crime Risk: Medium. NX is company-issued and centrally monitored. All wallet activity is screened using blockchain analytics.

  • Fraud Risk: Low to Medium. Fraud mitigated through mandatory KYC/KYB, transaction limits, behavioural monitoring, and sanctions screening.

  • Reputational Risk: Medium. As a proprietary token, governance and transparency controls reduce reputational exposure.

2. USDT (Tether)

  • Financial Crime Risk: Medium. Widely used globally; therefore, enhanced monitoring is required. All USDT transactions are screened for wallet risk scores, known illicit addresses, and chain-hopping patterns.

  • Reputational Risk: Medium due to market scrutiny of stablecoins; mitigated through strict EDD on high-value transactions.

3. EuroPAL & USST

  • Financial Crime Risk: Medium. Both tokens operate as regulated asset-backed stablecoins within our ecosystem. Wallet provenance is checked before onboarding.

  • Reputational Risk: Low to Medium. Limited external circulation reduces exposure, and stablecoin transparency frameworks apply.

General Controls Applied Across All Assets:

  • Blockchain analytics screening

  • Sanctions, PEP, and adverse-media screening

  • Wallet risk scoring (source of funds/source of crypto)

  • Automated monitoring for suspicious patterns

  • EDD for high-risk jurisdictions, tokens, or volumes
